All of our common area rooms are handsomely appointed with outstanding period antiques, lighting and all the amenities of a fine inn. Elegance and craftsmanship at their best in this High Victorian Home. Relax in the privacy of the your room watching a movie, sitting in front of a warm fire on a cold winter night or just simply unwinding in victorian splendor after a long day touring historic Dubuque.
The interior boasts a visual feast of artistic pleasures, from the eight varieties of woods used in the ornate woodwork, including elaborate built-ins hosting victorian collections, 15 different patterns of embossed wall coverings, world class original chandeliers, hand-painted european fireplace tiles and a dazzling display of over 80 stained glass windows. These beautiful details surround you as you dine in the dinning room, read in the living room or relax in your own room.
As with any architecture from the 1880’s, there comes a point when extensive restoration is required. We are in the process of restoring the exterior from top to bottom so please bear with us and enjoy the interior as you stay with us. When we complete the exterior, it will be as stunning as the rest of the inn.
As you visually move around this grand room, you are also looking into the large foyer area, the main living room complete with a baby grand piano, one of the 8 fireplaces and a built-in filled with movies and literature filled with everything from antique lighting to touring the beautiful historic tri-state area. This is a wonderful room to sit back and read, plan the day’s events or enjoy a refreshment and a snack before you venture out. Hover on the photo:
